Android Engineer

We started our journey back in 2005, building the first ever peer-to-peer lending company. Fast forward to 2020 and we launched Zopa Bank. A bank that listens to what our customers don’t like about finance and does the opposite. We’re redefining what it feels like to work in finance. Our vision for a new era of banking puts people front and centre — we’ve built a business that empowers everyone to aim high, every day, to move finance forward. Find out more about our fantastic offerings at Zopa.com!

We’re incredibly proud of our achievements and none of it would be possible without the amazing team here. It’s not just industry awards we’re winning, we’ve also been named in the top three UK’s Most Loved Workplaces.

If you embrace unconventional challenges, are unafraid to think differently and are driven to make an outsized impact, you’ll thrive here at Zopa, so join us, and make it count. Want to see us in action? Follow us on Instagram @zopalife

We’re on a mission to take our mobile app to the next level, and we’re looking for someone to help shape the future of our Android experience in Kotlin. Joining the Mobile Platform team, you’ll work on the technical foundations that power the app — from architecture and shared libraries to core experiences, build systems, and analytics infrastructure.

You’ll join our Mobile Platform team, which owns the infrastructure, tooling and engineering standards that sit beneath our customer-facing mobile experiences. This includes areas such as app architecture, shared modules, our design system, observability, developer tooling and CI/CD.
The team is accountable for keeping these foundations reliable, scalable and easy for our product squads to build on. You’ll help shape the direction of mobile engineering at Zopa, improve the developer experience, and reduce the underlying technical complexity that product engineers need to manage.
The Mobile Platform team does not own individual customer journeys or build product features on behalf of squads. Product teams remain responsible for their customer experiences and the services they own, including responding to incidents within those product-owned areas. Instead, your focus will be on creating and maintaining the shared capabilities, tooling and standards that enable those teams to deliver safely and effectively.

While the app today is built with React Native, we are expanding our native capabilities in Swift and Kotlin and are transforming the Android experience with a move toward a more fully native approach. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of that journey!
