Engineering Manager (electrical) - County Down - Salary up to £60000 (DoE) Your New Company Our client is a leading food manufacturer specialising in a range of fresh products. Operating from modern production facilities, they supply major retail, food service and manufacturing customers throughout the UK and Ireland. Your New Role This role is responsible for ensuring the reliability, efficiency and continuous improvement of electrical systems and production equipment, while driving performance against operational KPIs and assist in managing capital investment projects. Your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Lead, manage, and develop a team of existing engineers and technicians, including performance reviews, training and succession planning * Ensure high levels of equipment reliability and uptime across all production lines * Own and deliver key performance indicators (KPIs), including downtime reduction, mean time to repair (MTTR) and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) * Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimise plant performance, energy usage and maintenance efficiency * Plan and manage preventative and predictive maintenance strategies. Ensure compliance with all electrical safety standards, food safety regulations, and company policies * Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for recurring equipment issues * Collaborate with production, quality, and operations teams to support business objectives * Ensure stock of critical spare parts for all machines * Responsible for ordering and price negotiations spare parts/machinery * Responsible for tracking utilities costs eg, electrical, gas, diesel etc. * Sustainability project - to be a team member of the sustainability programme CAPEX Identify, scope, and work on CAPEX projects, including new machinery and upgrades * Build cases for investment and work with the Business Improvement Department on cost benefit analysis and payback calculations * Manage full project life cycle from concept through to commissioning and handover * Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and meet performance expectations * Track and report on ROI and payback of installed machinery. KPI's Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) * Planned vs Reactive Maintenance Ratio * Maintenance Cost as % of Asset Replacement Value (ARV) * CAPEX Delivery & ROI / Payback Achievement * Health & Safety compliance metrics. What You'll Need To Succeed In order to be considered for this role you will need to be in an existing maintenance or engineering management position, preferably within the food industry. Previous experience of management of a maintenance team is essential. What You'll Get In Return This role offers an attractive salary package of up to £60000 (DoE). * Standard working hours are 40-45 hours per week, typically Monday to Friday with an 08.00 start. Due to the nature of food manufacturing operations, flexibility is required to support a 24/7 production environment. The role may require occasional early starts, late finishes and weekend working to support maintenance activities, shutdowns, and project work. Participation in an on-call rota is expected to provide maintenance support during critical breakdowns or emergencies. Additional hours may be required during major CAPEX installations, commissioning phases, or planned shutdown periods.
