🚀 Senior Backend Software Engineer (Java) – Contract – Automotive Sector

We're recruiting for a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join a major automotive client's Identity Management Services team, on a 135-day contract based in Dunton, Basildon (4 days/week on-site).

This is a technical lead role — you'll be designing and building high-scale, secure backend services that power core identity infrastructure, while helping upskill and mentor the wider engineering team.

What you'll be doing:

✅ Design & build high-scale backend Java services

✅ Own security and resilience of the platform

✅ Act as technical lead — raise engineering standards across the team

✅ Work in an Agile environment with modern DevOps practices

What we're looking for:

8+ years backend development experience, strong in Java (Spring Boot/Spring Framework)

Experience with identity & access management (IAM, OAuth, SSO)

CI/CD, version control, DevOps practices (Jenkins, Git, etc.)

Relational databases & server-side technologies

Leadership/mentoring experience

Agile delivery experience

GCP or cloud platform experience a plus

Location: Dunton, Basildon (4 days/week on-site)

Duration: 4+ Month
