Job Description

What the Environment / Sell

The consultant will support mission-critical Navy network infrastructure across enterprise WLAN, LAN, and WAN environments. The role provides exposure to network event monitoring, incident response, outage resolution, enterprise transport technologies, DoD networks, and coordination with vendors and specialized WAN/BAN teams.

1 to 2 years of relevant network, IT, or technical training and experience. U.S. citizenship. Active DoD Secret clearance. DoD 8570.01 IAT Level II certification before onboarding. Familiarity with LAN, WAN, WLAN, MPLS, routing protocols, VLANs, VoIP, subnetting, switching, Cisco IOS, and IOS XE. Experience with enterprise event, incident, and performance management. Familiarity with SNMP-based network monitoring tools. Experience working in a DoD environment. Data center experience.

Experience supporting NIPR and SIPR networks. Willingness to work shifts. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to remain calm under pressure and interact effectively with end users. Required IAT Level II Certifications
At least one qualifying certification is required before onboarding: CompTIA Security+ CE
Cisco CCNA Security
ISC2 SSCP
GSEC
GICSP
CySA+
Pluses
Prior military experience. USMC or USN IT experience. ITIL Foundation familiarity. Additional experience with networking technologies and data centers. Long-form technical or business writing skills.

Ability to create complex technical reports. Experience working within a matrixed organization. Self-starter who can work independently and drive improvements. Day to Day
Monitor events and incidents affecting network transport and overall service health. Monitor WLAN, LAN, and WAN transport solutions. Document outages, response actions, and resolution or escalation activities. Create trouble tickets based on monitoring alerts or customer reports. Perform initial incident assessment and triage. Determine event criticality and impact.

Escalate incidents to higher support tiers and appropriate personnel. Coordinate with vendors and specialized WAN/BAN teams. Support Site Operations and external organizations with problem resolution. Respond to warning, critical, and fatal network infrastructure alerts within five minutes or less. Keep the Critical Situation Manager informed regarding significant events and incidents. Use internal systems to report incidents to leadership
