Job Description
Warfel Construction Company is looking for a Project Estimator to join our Client-focused team based out of our Winchester, VA office. The Project Estimator will primarily be responsible for the successful creation of construction estimates related to a completed bid package. The ideal candidate will be detailed in their takeoff, meticulous in their descoping of trade partners and estimate completion, as well as proactive in client needs and expectations as we participate in the preconstruction process.
Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Review bid documents to understand the project and develop meaningful preconstruction RFI’s.
- Prepare bid deliverables, including detailed quantity take-off, thorough scope sheets, clarifications/exclusions and variance reports of assigned trades of work.
- Provide in-depth knowledge of your assigned trades of work in order to walk trade partners through scope and ensure accurate proposals.
- Reach out to trade partners, suppliers and vendors to obtain proposals through phone calls, and any other means necessary.
- Build/maintain relationships with trade partners, suppliers and/or vendors.
- Provide a positive and consistent customer experience with both internal/external team members ensuring there are no surprises throughout the estimating process.
- Submit a complete and on-time bid with no exceptions.
- Complete site visits as necessary.
Education and Experience
- A High School diploma or GED equivalent, with associated experience.
- 5+ years of experience in construction estimating at the General Contractor (GC) or trade partner level or Related construction experience preferred.
- Ideal candidate must be proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office. Experience with Destini software is a plus.
- Must be proficient in Blueprint Reading, Quantity Take-off, and construction knowledge.
- Ability to multi-task while keeping a positive attitude.
- Must have excellent communication skills with team members both internally and externally.
