Product Analyst – Application Modernization & Documentation 26-00171

Location: New York City – Hybrid
Duration: 1+ year
Pay Rate: $90–$100 per hour W2
Employment Type: W2 only—no C2C or third-party candidates

 

 

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Product Analyst to support a large-scale application modernization and documentation initiative. This individual will support Product Owners and collaborate with engineering, architecture and business teams across an Agile Release Train consisting of eight teams.

 

The Product Analyst will establish consistent documentation standards, assess existing documentation across 19 applications and produce detailed current-state requirements and process documentation for applications undergoing modernization or replacement.

The successful candidate must be able to work independently with minimal onboarding, manage changing priorities and translate complex technical information for both technical and nontechnical audiences.

 

Responsibilities

  • Gather, analyze and document business, product, functional and technical requirements.
  • Create PRDs, user flows, process maps, data flows and sequence diagrams.
  • Document current-state processes, requirements and interfaces for prioritized applications.
  • Develop an Agile Release Train-wide documentation strategy, taxonomy and style guide.
  • Define standards for organizing documentation across SharePoint, Confluence and JIRA.
  • Establish document version-control, archival, retention and lifecycle procedures.
  • Review existing documentation and identify missing, outdated, duplicate or orphaned content.
  • Conduct gap analyses and prioritize documentation needs based on business importance and migration risk.
  • Develop standardized Confluence structures, tagging conventions and cleanup procedures.
  • Create reusable templates for data flows, file specifications, data dictionaries, API contracts, error handling and performance requirements.
  • Write SQL queries and analyze data to validate requirements and product assumptions.
  • Use advanced Excel functions, including VLOOKUPs, pivot tables and macros.
  • Write user stories with clear acceptance criteria and definitions of done.
  • Manage and refine product backlogs using JIRA and JIRA Align.
  • Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, retrospectives and other Agile ceremonies.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, engineers, architects and business stakeholders to resolve requirements and documentation gaps.
  • Train team members to maintain established documentation standards and processes.

Preferred Experience

  • Documentation governance across multiple applications or Agile teams
  • BPMN, swimlane diagrams or value-stream mapping
  • Visio, Lucidchart, Miro or comparable process-mapping tools
