This project is part of ongoing efforts to maintain and optimize the installed base of point-of-care analyzers across customer sites in Southern, Seacoast/Central, and Upper Valley/North New Hampshire. Field Technicians will play a critical role in supporting onsite software deployments and inventory validation activities at healthcare customer locations. Field Technicians will play a critical role in supporting onsite software deployments and inventory validation activities at healthcare customer locations. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, detail-oriented, comfortable working independently, and enjoys traveling to support technical field initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Execute USB software upgrades on Afinion 2 analyzers in accordance with established project procedures and technical requirements.
- Validate successful software installation and perform post-upgrade functionality checks to confirm the analyzer is operating as expected.
- Document each completed upgrade, including software version, upgrade status, validation results, and any issues encountered.
- Conduct site census activities to capture and verify critical analyzer and site information, including:
- Primary site point of contact
- Analyzer operational status
- Number of analyzers at the site and their physical locations
- Analyzer type/model
- Analyzer serial number
- Current software version
- Connectivity status to LIS/HIS/EMR
- Middleware or connectivity solution in use, if applicable
- Collect additional site intelligence, including department ownership, connectivity challenges, operational considerations, and relevant customer feedback.
- Complete standardized site surveys and capture/upload photographs when permitted by the customer and site requirements.
- Identify and document issues or exceptions encountered during the visit and escalate items requiring additional technical, operational, or customer support.
- Update project and inventory records to ensure accurate, complete, and timely documentation of field activities.
- Submit site completion reports and required project documentation in accordance with established project procedures and timelines.
- Communicate effectively with site personnel and project stakeholders, providing appropriate updates on upgrade status, findings, and outstanding items.
- Maintain professional customer interactions and represent the project team appropriately while working within customer facilities.
- Adhere to all applicable site policies, safety requirements, infection-control requirements, and project procedures while performing field services.
- Complete assigned sites within scheduled deployment windows and proactively communicate scheduling, access, or completion concerns to the Regional Project Coordinator.
- Experience as a Field Service Technician, Biomedical Equipment Technician, Medical Device Technician, IT Field Technician, or similar customer-facing technical role
- Comfortable traveling to multiple customer sites within assigned region
- Strong attention to detail and accurate technical documentation skills
- Experience with medical devices, laboratory equipment, or healthcare technology preferred
- Basic troubleshooting skills and ability to follow technical work instructions
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage a daily travel schedule
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in Electronics, IT, Biomedical Equipment Technology, or related field preferred
