Pharmacy Technician - PRN

Albright Pharmacy is located on the Asbury Methodist Village campus, in Gaithersburg, MD.  The Pharmacy Technician - PRN is part of the team that allows Asbury residents enjoy the convenient prescription pharmaceuticals and over-the-counter medications right on the campus where they reside.                                         PRN OPPORTUNITY

Compensation Starting at $19.00 per hour

1. Pharmacy technicians assist the pharmacist in the preparation and distribution of medications, maintaining the drug inventory, and maintaining patient and pharmacy records in a manner consistent with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations, as well as pharmacy policies and procedures.

   Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

2. - Under the supervision of a pharmacist, and in accordance with State and Federal Laws, fills prescriptions for and assists with daily fills as directed.

3. - Effectively operates the Pharmacy computer system to ensure timely and accurate prescription documentation and billing.

4. - Orders supplies and prescription medications under the direction of the Pharmacist.
5. - Maintains pharmacy Pyxis system, restocks outdates, restocks meds on a daily basis.
6. - Understands Facility and Third-party billing guidelines.
7. - Compliant with infection control procedures and environmental safety protocol within a Long-Term Care (LTC) facility.
8. - Travels between facilities efficiently during scheduled hours as assigned. Makes emergency deliveries as necessary.
9. - Works varying shifts on a standard rotating schedule, including weekends.
10. - Advises the Pharmacy Manager of any potential or actual problem that may jeopardize Albright Care Services.

1. - High School diploma or its equivalent.
2. - Minimum of 1 year of pharmacy experience.
3. - Completion of a nationally and/or state recognized Pharmacy Technician Certification program required.
4. - Prior experience as a pharmacy technician/data entry technician with good working knowledge of reviewing and entering prescription orders preferred.
5. - Proficient computer skills necessary for data entry, reporting, including documentation and billing.  - - An ideal candidate would have experience with PrimeCare/QS1 Pharmacy operations system and have some exposure to Pharmacy Automation (ie. TCGRx)
6. - Must possess a valid Maryland driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
