Interaction Designer

Job Description:

• Role: Interaction Designer
• Rate: £600/day (Inside IR35)
• Contract: 6 months
• Location: Hybrid 2 days per week on-site at any client hub
• Clearance: BPSS

We are looking for an experienced Interaction Designer to join a multidisciplinary digital delivery team. In this role, you will help shape accessible, responsive, and engaging public facing websites, content heavy sites. Crucially, you will balance usability and accessibility with a distinct visual identity that sets these services apart from standard GOV.UK designs

• Interaction and Visual Design: Create clear, usable user journeys, navigation, task flows, and page layouts using Figma, ensuring a strong balance between visual design, usability, and accessibility.
• Prototyping and Iteration: Build prototypes and work alongside researchers to test, iterate, and refine design solutions based on user feedback.
• CMS and Content Collaboration: Design for content heavy websites and Content Management Systems (e.g. WordPress), ensuring tools and structures work seamlessly for both end-users and content editors.
• Service Evolution: Balance day-to-day design needs across live service improvements, tackling design debt, and contributing to future facing platform development.
• Design System and Asset Management: Maintain organised design files, document design decisions clearly, and build reusable design assets in Figma

• Web and Content Experience: Strong track record designing public-facing, content-heavy, or campaign/recruitment style websites.
• CMS Design Knowledge: Experience designing for platforms like WordPress and collaborating with editors who create and maintain website content.
• Accessibility and Responsiveness: In depth understanding of inclusive design principles, delivering responsive experiences that work across different devices and user needs.
• GOV.UK Distinction: Ability to deliver accessible designs that feel visually distinct from GOV.UK.
• Figma Proficiency: Strong Figma skills, including component management, documenting design decisions, and creating reusable design assets.
• Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Confidence working alongside user researchers, developers, and product teams to translate research insights into practical improvements

£600.00 - £650.00 / day
