Quick overview
Job description
The AI Policy Network (AIPN) is a bipartisan, independent 501(c)(4) advocacy organization dedicated to advancing secure AI development that serves America's economic prosperity, technological leadership, and national security. We provide policymakers with technically-grounded perspectives on emerging AI capabilities and risks, with particular focus on ensuring advanced AI systems remain reliable, controllable, and aligned with their intended purposes.
The AI Policy Network is dedicated to preparing America for the era of artificial superintelligence by advancing technically grounded, security-oriented policy solutions. We work to ensure that as AI systems grow more capable, the United States has the governance frameworks, institutional capacity, and political will to keep these systems safe, secure, and aligned with democratic values.
I. POSITION SUMMARY
The AI Policy Network (AIPN) is hiring researchers for our policy team at two levels of seniority to provide research support across our fast-growing organization. However, we work as a fast-paced generalist team and the world around AI is constantly evolving, so this list is subject to change. We value both generalist skills/reasoning and domain expertise.
III. QUALIFICATIONS
A. Experience
- Policy Analysts are expected to have at least one year of relevant experience.
- Senior Policy Analysts are expected to have at least three years of relevant experience and a record of independent work. Policy work counts, such as published analysis, legislative text, or testimony. Technical AI work also counts for candidates moving into policy, such as AI safety or alignment research, model evaluations, or AI security work.
- Relevant experience means full-time, paid work in a research, policy, or AI-related technical role, including technical AI safety, machine learning, and AI security research. Internships and coursework do not count. Doctoral research and research fellowships count if they produced published work.
B. Requirements
- All hires must demonstrate an ability to (a) write clearly and concisely for a range of audiences, particularly policymakers; (b) find, read, critically assess, and apply research or policy from various disciplines to AI-specific contexts; and (c) have strong interpersonal skills.
