Manager / Lead - Data Engineering & BI

Role Overview

Seeking a hands-on Data Engineering & BI Manager/Lead to own SQL Server data warehouse, SSIS ETL, reporting, and analytics delivery. This role leads an onshore/offshore team, works directly with customers, and ensures data quality, production stability, and on-time delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead data engineering and BI delivery, including planning, estimates, resources, and releases.
• Manage and mentor onshore/offshore engineering teams.
• Partner with customers to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Own SQL Server data warehouse, dimensional modeling, T-SQL, and SSIS design decisions.
• Review code, ETL packages, data models, and analytical datasets.
• Oversee production support, data quality, reconciliation, and root-cause resolution.
• Identify delivery risks and coordinate with application, integration, and BI teams.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IS, or related field.
• 10 12 years in data engineering/ETL, with 3+ years leading teams.
• Strong hands-on SQL Server, T-SQL, and SSIS experience.
• Experience with data warehousing and dimensional/star schema modeling.
• Experience managing onshore/offshore teams and customer stakeholders.
• Strong communication, delivery, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in regulated enterprise environments.

AI-Assisted Development Required

• Daily hands-on use of GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor, or similar AI tools.
• Ability to validate AI-generated SQL, SSIS logic, and analytical code for performance, security, and data integrity.
• Understanding of secure AI usage, including protecting PHI and sensitive data.
• Ability to identify and promote AI-driven improvements in development and testing.
• Healthcare/payer/provider data experience.
• SSRS, SSAS, Power BI.
• AWS Glue, S3, Athena or SQL Server cloud migration.
• X12, HL7, FHIR.
• Microsoft SQL Server certifications.
