Airport Systems Expert- IT/ICT

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Airport Systems Expert specializing in Information Technology (IT) and Information & Communication Technology (ICT) to support the planning, design, integration, and implementation of airport technology systems for airport development and modernization projects. The role involves the development of technology strategies and ICT infrastructure solutions that support airport operations, passenger processing, airport security, business continuity, and digital transformation initiatives.

The successful candidate will work closely with airport planners, terminal planners, architects, engineers, airport operators, airlines, technology vendors, and multidisciplinary project teams to develop integrated IT and ICT systems throughout all project phases, from concept planning and requirements definition through detailed design, procurement, installation, testing, commissioning, and operational readiness. The individual will be responsible for ensuring that airport technology systems are scalable, secure, resilient, and aligned with operational and business objectives.

The role requires strong expertise in airport operational technologies, communications networks, data infrastructure, systems integration, cybersecurity, and smart airport solutions. The candidate will contribute to airport expansion, rehabilitation, modernization, and greenfield projects by delivering innovative and future-ready ICT systems that enhance operational efficiency, passenger experience, safety, security, and digital connectivity.

Your role

• Develop ICT master plans and technology strategies for airport development projects. Identify current and future operational requirements and establish scalable technology frameworks that support airport growth, operational efficiency, and digital transformation objectives.
• Lead the planning and design of ICT infrastructure, including structured cabling systems, fiber optic backbone networks, telecommunications rooms, equipment rooms, network architecture, communication pathways, and airport-wide connectivity solutions.
• Support the planning and integration of Airport Operational Systems, including Airport Operational Databases (AODB), Resource Management Systems (RMS), Flight Information Display Systems (FIDS), and operational reporting systems.
• Develop and coordinate technology solutions supporting passenger processing operations, including Common Use Passenger Processing Systems (CUPPS), Common Use Self-Service (CUSS), self-bag drop systems, biometric technologies, e-gates, and passenger information systems.
• Design and integrate airport communication systems, including telephony systems, radio communications, voice networks, intercom systems, public address systems, emergency communication systems, and operational communications infrastructure.
• Plan and design local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), wireless networks, Wi-Fi infrastructure, network security architecture, and communications backbone systems to support airport operations and passenger services.
• Support the design of airport data centers, server rooms, disaster recovery facilities, equipment rooms, and critical ICT infrastructure. Ensure high availability, redundancy, resilience, and business continuity requirements are incorporated into system designs.
• Incorporate cybersecurity requirements into airport ICT systems and infrastructure. Support the development of secure network architectures, access control strategies, cybersecurity frameworks, and risk mitigation measures aligned with industry standards and airport operational needs.
• Coordinate interfaces between ICT systems and other airport systems, including security systems, baggage handling systems, building management systems, airfield systems, passenger processing technologies, and operational platforms. Ensure effective interoperability and seamless data exchange.
• Collaborate with airport planners, architects, structural engineers, MEP designers, security consultants, operational stakeholders, airlines, and technology vendors to ensure successful integration of ICT systems within the overall airport development program.
• Assess existing airport ICT infrastructure and operational technology systems. Identify gaps, capacity constraints, obsolescence risks, and upgrade opportunities while developing technology modernization and lifecycle replacement strategies.
• Engage with airport operators, airlines, regulatory authorities, technology suppliers, contractors, and project stakeholders to define requirements, facilitate workshops, resolve technical issues, and support successful project delivery.

About you

• B.E., B.Tech, or B.Sc. in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, or Telecommunications. M.E./M.Tech in Aviation Information Systems, or an MBA in Aviation Management.
• 8+ years of experience in design of IT / ICT systems. Experience in commercial, industrial, infrastructure, or airport projects (preferred).
• Strong hands-on experience with Autodesk AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit (optional). Awareness of Civil 3D for coordination purposes.
• Experience with Microsoft Visio and Bluebeam review.
• Familiarity with Network Design and Analysis tools.
• Familiarity with IATA, ICAO, and airport authority requirements related to IT / ICT systems.
• Understanding of airport operational concepts, passenger processing systems, and terminal planning.
• Good understanding of Electrical supply and electrical systems.
• Experience working with IT / ICT system suppliers and integrators.
• BIM workflows and data management.
• Experience working on UK / Middle East / International aviation projects is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative BIM team.
• Knowledge of ACC / ProjectWise, Navisworks, and clash detection workflows.
• Experience in airport terminal development, expansion, and modernization projects.
