This position supports the development of structural substantiation data through analytical calculations, load loop evaluations, finite element analysis (FEA), and technical documentation.
Working under the guidance of a Senior Structures Engineer, the Structures Engineer executes engineering analyses, develops recommendations, and prepares technical deliverables. All analyses, findings, and engineering conclusions are reviewed and approved by the Senior Structures Engineer prior to release.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform fatigue, stress, and structural integrity assessments for engine mount assemblies and supporting structures.
- Execute load loop evaluations to validate load transfer paths and identify critical structural locations.
- Develop and maintain finite element models to support structural analyses.
- Perform static, fatigue, and damage tolerance assessments using established engineering methods and procedures.
- Analyze structural performance under operational, limit, and ultimate load conditions.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, and load data to support analysis activities.
- Document analysis assumptions, methodologies, calculations, and results.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and supporting certification documentation.
- Support investigations of structural issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaborate with design, manufacturing, certification, and program teams to resolve technical challenges.
- Participate in technical reviews and incorporate feedback from client Senior Engineers and Subject Matter Experts.
- Ensure compliance with company engineering standards, customer requirements, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 3-7 years of experience in structural analysis, stress analysis, fatigue analysis, or aerospace structures engineering.
- Experience performing engineering calculations and structural assessments.
- Knowledge of fatigue and damage tolerance principles.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical requirements.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical writing skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative engineering environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting aerospace engine mount, nacelle, pylon, or airframe structures.
- Familiarity with certification and airworthiness requirements.
- Experience supporting structural substantiation activities.
- Knowledge of metallic and composite structural behavior.
- Exposure to root cause investigations and corrective action development.
