Job Description

We are looking for Senior Technical Project Manager for our client in Frankfort, KY

Job Title: Senior Technical Project Manager

Job Location: Frankfort, KY

Job Type: Contract

Pay Range: $55.00hr - $60.00hr

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead and deliver complex technology projects that align with both IT tactical and strategic requirements. The role leads cross-functional technical teams and manages vendor relationships to ensure successful execution, applying advanced project management methodologies to manage risk, track performance, and ensure delivery quality. The candidate will mentor technical team members regarding project management frameworks and project delivery. This position is best suited to a project manager experienced with both application development and infrastructure projects who can operate effectively in ambiguous environments, establish governance, challenge incomplete requirements, and guide projects from initial request through operational handover. The candidate will translate business and technical requirements into executable infrastructure strategies, coordinate engineering and operational teams, and maintain control of scope, schedule, budget, risk, quality, and stakeholder expectations while applying strong technical knowledge of data center, network, security, compute, storage, virtualization, and disaster-recovery environments.

Requirements:

  • Active PMP and ITIL certifications with 7+ years of relevant project management experience, managing technical and cross-functional business projects and teams in a variety of computing environments (such as SaaS and cloud).
  • 5+ years of experience converting high-level business needs and requirements into system requirements.
  • Advanced knowledge of project management methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, SAFe, SDLC, ITIL) and their application in enterprise IT environments.
  • Significant experience in delivering complex IT projects involving infrastructure, application and product development, cybersecurity, or regulatory compliance.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute project roadmaps, schedules, and resource plans aligned with technical and business goals.
  • Experience meeting compliance with regulatory requirements, security policies, and governance standards (FedRAMP, NIST, SOC, etc.).
  • Experience with active-active data center architectures and large-scale application migrations, including leading infrastructure assessments to evaluate current-state architecture, operational maturity, service resilience, capacity, technical debt, and business-continuity risks.
  • Experience leading data center consolidation, migration, modernization, or major infrastructure deployment initiatives.
  • Ability to coordinate the development and review of high-level data center infrastructure architectures and design requirements.
  • Familiarity with IT service management, business continuity, disaster recovery, ERP, and infrastructure lifecycle management.
  • Proven ability to lead technical teams, manage vendor relationships, and ensure alignment with business and technical requirements, including coordinating architects, engineers, facilities teams, operations personnel, application owners, vendors, and executive stakeholders.
  • Advanced skills in project analytics, reporting, and performance tracking using tools such as Jira, Power BI, and ServiceNow.
  • Expert knowledge of IT systems, architecture, and compliance frameworks, with the ability to communicate risks and strategies to leadership.
  • Experience with managing stakeholder engagement and change initiatives across technical and business domains.
  • Bachelor s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex technical issues to executive, business, operational, and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working with colocation providers, engineering consultants, general contractors, cloud providers, and managed-service organizations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain program governance, reporting, escalation, decision-making, and change-control processes.
  • Ability to track schedule, budget, scope, quality, resource capacity, benefits realization, and operational-readiness indicators, maintaining integrated RAID logs covering risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies, and decisions.
  • Ability to prepare executive-level reports, decision papers, program dashboards, and recommendations.
  • Ability to escalate unresolved risks, scope conflicts, budget pressures, resource constraints, and delivery concerns in a timely manner.
  • Ability to facilitate steering committees, design reviews, readiness reviews, risk workshops, and executive decision meetings.
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams without relying solely on direct reporting authority.
  • Ability to mentor project managers, technical leads, analysts, and other program team members.
  • Ability to establish operational rigor by defining and driving program management best practices, including OKRs and execution roadmaps, to ensure engineering delivery aligns with long-term product strategy.
  • Experience designing and implementing IAM integrations, provisioning workflows, and access controls.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., CAPM, CSM, PMI-ACP, PgMP, SAFe Practitioner, or AWS/Azure cloud certifications).
  • Experience with full lifecycle implementation and upgrades for financial systems like ERP, billing, and general ledger platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of data center architecture, enterprise network infrastructure, cybersecurity, compute, storage, virtualization, and disaster-recovery concepts.
  • Ability to evaluate program alternatives and clearly communicate cost, schedule, risk, operational, and technical tradeoffs to leadership.
  • Ability to maintain accountability for overall program performance while coordinating multiple projects, vendors, and technical disciplines.
  • Ability to ensure that compute, storage, virtualization, network, cybersecurity, facilities, cloud, and application requirements are incorporated into the overall solution.
  • Ability to facilitate technical alignment among data center architects, facilities engineers, network and security teams, platform teams, application owners, operations, and external consultants.
  • Ability to support active-active, primary-secondary, disaster-recovery, high-performance computing, and critical production infrastructure strategies.
  • Ability to review design assumptions for availability, scalability, maintainability, redundancy, recoverability, capacity, and operational readiness.
  • Ability to identify infrastructure dependencies and integration requirements across network, security, compute, storage, application, and facility environments.
  • Ability to support the development of migration architectures, sequencing plans, coexistence strategies, rollback plans, and cutover requirements.
  • Ability to develop and govern migration frameworks for critical applications, infrastructure platforms, and data center services.
  • Ability to coordinate application Client, dependency mapping, migration-wave planning, readiness reviews, cutover execution, rollback planning, and post-migration validation.
  • Ability to ensure infrastructure, network, security, operations, facilities, and application teams are aligned before migration or production activation.
  • Ability to establish formal entry and exit criteria for design, build, testing, commissioning, migration, and operational handover phases.
  • Ability to provide program-level oversight for enterprise data center network and security architecture.
  • Ability to coordinate LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, software-defined networking, routing, firewall, remote-access, and unified-communications workstreams.
  • Ability to ensure cybersecurity, governance, risk, and compliance requirements are incorporated into program planning and design decisions.
  • Ability to guide technical teams in evaluating infrastructure standards, technology lifecycles, automation opportunities, and future-state roadmaps.

Candidate Expectations:

  • Achievement of program milestones within approved scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Quality and completeness of infrastructure requirements and delivery plans.
  • Timely identification and mitigation of program risks and dependencies.
  • Accuracy and transparency of executive reporting.
  • Successful completion of either infrastructure or application production cutovers.
  • Reduction of unplanned scope changes and unresolved design gaps.
  • Stakeholder confidence and effectiveness of cross-functional coordination.
  • Vendor performance and contractual compliance.
  • Operational readiness and successful transition to support teams.
  • Delivery of measurable improvements in infrastructure resilience, scalability, capacity, security, cost, or service performance.
