SAP FICO Lead/ Architect
Location: Atlanta, GA
Duration: 12+ months
 
Job Summary
Client is seeking an experienced SAP FICO Lead/ Architect to lead the design, architecture, and implementation of SAP Finance solutions across complex enterprise environments. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in SAP Financial Accounting (FI), Controlling (CO), and SAP S/4HANA Finance, with a strong background in enterprise solution architecture, finance transformation, and integration with cross-functional SAP modules.
The candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, finance leadership, functional teams, and technical architects to define scalable, compliant, and future-ready SAP Finance solutions aligned with business objectives.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the end-to-end SAP FICO architecture, solution design, and implementation across SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA environments.
  • Define SAP Finance architecture and transformation roadmaps aligned with enterprise business strategy.
  • Drive SAP S/4HANA Finance implementations, including greenfield implementations, brownfield conversions, and selective data transitions.
  • Design and govern solutions across General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Asset Accounting (AA), Bank Accounting, Cost Center Accounting, Profit Center Accounting, Internal Orders, and Product Costing.
  • Lead the design of Universal Journal, New GL, parallel accounting, intercompany accounting, and financial reporting solutions.
  • Architect integration between SAP FICO and other modules, including SAP MM, SD, PP, PS, Treasury, and Project Systems, as applicable.
  • Design and oversee integration with external financial systems, banking platforms, tax solutions, reporting tools, and third-party applications.
  • Establish architecture standards, design principles, configuration guidelines, and governance processes across SAP Finance implementations.
  • Evaluate business requirements and translate them into scalable SAP solutions while minimizing unnecessary custom development.
  • Provide technical and functional leadership to SAP functional consultants, developers, integration teams, and implementation partners.
  • Drive finance process standardization, automation, optimization, and harmonization across business units.
  • Ensure compliance with financial controls, audit requirements, internal policies, and applicable accounting standards.
  • Lead architecture reviews, design workshops, fit-gap assessments, solution validation, and technical design approvals.
  • Support data migration, reconciliation, cutover planning, testing, deployment, and post-go-live stabilization.
  • Collaborate with senior business and IT stakeholders to resolve complex architectural issues and communicate solution recommendations.
Required Qualifications
  • 10-12+ years of overall SAP experience, with significant expertise in SAP FICO solution design and architecture.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with SAP FI/CO and SAP S/4HANA Finance.
  • Proven experience serving as an SAP FICO Architect, SAP Finance Solution Architect, or Enterprise SAP Finance Architect.
  • Strong understanding of SAP S/4HANA Finance architecture, Universal Journal (ACDOCA), Business Partner integration, and modern financial data models.
  • Experience leading at least two end-to-end SAP Finance implementations, transformations, or major migration programs.
  • Deep knowledge of financial accounting, management accounting, cost allocation, financial close, and enterprise reporting processes.
  • Strong experience with integration across SAP Finance and logistics modules, including MM, SD, PP, and PS.
  • Experience with SAP Activate, fit-to-standard workshops, solution governance, and architecture documentation.
  • Strong understanding of financial controls, auditability, reconciliation, and regulatory compliance.
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
