This position provides reservoir simulation engineering expertise for carbon sequestration projects during both feasibility and development phases. It operates within a multidisciplinary subsurface sequestration development team.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Conduct dynamic reservoir simulation studies for CCS projects and gas storage, including building and refining models to describe physical processes and optimize injection/operation conditions for permit applications.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate well and reservoir data, forecast reservoir performance, support operational and subsurface development planning, and optimize asset development strategies.
  • Apply fundamental reservoir engineering and simulation skills in reservoir characterization, opportunity assessment, and injection/production optimization.
  • Interact with geoscientists, facilities engineers, petrophysicists, drilling, and production engineers to incorporate data into reservoir models.
  • Identify key uncertainties and recommend risk mitigation strategies.
  • Enhance reservoir descriptions through fluid analysis, core evaluation, well testing interpretation, and performance analysis, integrating findings into simulation models.
  • Generate reports and visualizations to communicate field performance to management and peers.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, effectively managing multidisciplinary teams.
  • Collaborate professionally with colleagues, maintaining tact, courtesy, and clarity in communication.
  • Maintain dependable attendance and high-performance levels, working non-traditional hours as needed.

Preferred Qualifications/ Experience:

  • Experience with INTERSECT is a must. Past experience with Eclipse in CCS applications is a plus.
  • Experience with Petrel RE workflows, Pipesim/nodal analysis, pressure transient testing is required.
  • Experience in CO₂ EOR, core analysis, petrophysics, and programming languages (preferred but not mandatory).

Competencies, Skills & Abilities:

  • Minimum of 7 years’ reservoir simulation experience; candidates with less experience may be considered if they demonstrate exceptional skills or relevant expertise.
  • Proven experience in reservoir simulation for CCS projects, including model construction, updating, and history matching.
  • Working knowledge of CCS operations, project management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficiency in basic engineering principles.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and capable of managing multiple tasks under strict deadlines.
  • Autonomous problem-solving skills, with the ability to seek guidance when necessary.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team, follow directions, adhere to schedules, and pay attention to detail.
  • Position level will be commensurate with experience and skills.
