Role Overview
Role:
IonQ is hiring a Senior Quantum Sales Director to drive new and expansion revenue for Capella Data as a Service (DaaS) and satellite systems across EMEA. You will own a portfolio of strategic enterprise, defence and government accounts, selling SAR imagery and analytics subscriptions, tasking capacity and complete satellite systems, and you will report to Garrick Ballantine.
This is a quota carrying, hunter oriented role for a seller who can run long cycle capital programmes alongside faster moving data subscriptions, and who can translate space based sensing into mission and business outcomes. The role is remote, employed through an IonQ entity in the UK (Oxford) or Switzerland, with travel of up to 20%.
Responsibilities:
You will own an annual new business and expansion quota across Capella DaaS subscriptions, tasking capacity and satellite system sales within an assigned enterprise, defence and civil government territory in EMEA. You will build and execute account plans for a named portfolio, mapping stakeholders across mission, programme, procurement and technical functions and building executive relationships at several levels in each account.
You will sell the full value chain, from SAR data and analytics subscriptions and recurring tasking commitments to ground segment integration and dedicated or jointly owned satellite systems. Working with product, engineering and mission solutions teams, you will bring customer requirements back into the roadmap and represent IonQ at industry, defence and geospatial conferences.
Key responsibilities include:
- Run complex, consultative sales cycles from prospecting through to close, including discovery, technical validation with solutions engineering, pricing, contracting and negotiation of subscription and system purchase agreements.
- Respond to RFIs, RFPs and government tenders in partnership with capture, proposal and contracts teams, and support prime and subcontractor teaming strategies.
- Forecast accurately in CRM, keep disciplined pipeline hygiene and deliver reliable monthly and quarterly commits.
- Develop executive relationships across mission, programme, procurement and technical stakeholders in each account.
- Represent IonQ at industry, defence and geospatial events across EMEA, and feed customer requirements back to product and engineering.
Requirements:
You will bring substantial enterprise sales experience in geospatial data, earth observation, satellite systems, defence technology or adjacent data and SaaS markets, with a consistent record of exceeding quota. You will have closed both recurring data or subscription contracts and large capital or programme based hardware sales, and you will have sold to EMEA and allied government, defence and security customers, with a working knowledge of their procurement frameworks and contracting cycles.
You will have command of a structured sales methodology such as MEDDICC or Challenger, with disciplined CRM and forecasting rigour, and the ability to engage credibly with technical and mission stakeholders on remote sensing, SAR, tasking and data delivery workflows. A bachelor's degree in business, engineering or a related field, and willingness to travel up to 20%, are also required.
You’d be a great fit with:
- Direct experience selling SAR, optical imagery or RF sensing data and analytics.
- A background in satellite systems, ground segment or space mission integration.
- Experience in early market development or category creation for an emerging technology.
- The ability to obtain the relevant national security clearance in your country of employment, such as UK SC or NATO clearance.
- Established relationships with EMEA government, defence or security customers, including NATO and allied programmes.
The total compensation package includes base salary, bonus, equity, and a range of benefits available on our career site.
Compensation will vary based on individual factors such as education, qualifications, and experience of the final candidate(s), specific office location, and calibration against relevant market data and internal team equity. Posted base salary figures are subject to change as new market data becomes available. Our benefits include comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans, matching 401(k), unlimited PTO and paid holidays, parental/adoption leave, legal insurance, and a home technology stipend. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided when a candidate receives an offer of employment.
