Instructor -Nursing Health Promotion and Disease Prevention

The College of Nursing is seeking a full-time non-tenure Instructor. The responsibilities for this role include 95% clinical practice assignment at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, which includes: planning and directing the delivery of healthcare to the Pediatric Neurology population. This position provides care and health education for patients and their families. In addition, 5% teaching responsibilities in the College of Nursing will be determined in collaboration with the Department Chair.

• Assesses, diagnoses, and treats neurology patients according to approved protocol and acceptable standards. 
• Performs necessary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures according to written, approved protocols developed with and under the supervision of the Medical Director/collaborating Physician.
• Participates in the design and revision of protocols.
• Collaborates with Medical Physicians and ancillary personnel as appropriate to promote quality care for patients. Make referrals as appropriate.
• Recognizes and reacts appropriately to environmental safety factors related to patient care.
• Develops strong partnerships with patients, family members, fellow providers/nurses and support staff.  Focus on high patient and family satisfaction and retention.
• Outpatient position, involves managing the care of children with new and ongoing neurological disorders, developing education plans for families, and ordering appropriate consultation and referrals when indicated.

EDUCATION: Master’s Degree or higher in a nursing specialty from an accredited university required. (Doctor of Nursing Practice degree preferred.)

EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of clinical practice experience at the RN level. (Experience in the role of an APRN preferred.)

LICENSES: Current DEA certification and must be certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support. Unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) and Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) in Tennessee or eligibility to obtain licensure in Tennessee is required. Current certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in Primary or Acute Care.
