Job Description

The Design Assistant provides day-to-day organizational and administrative support to the Design team throughout the seasonal design and development process. This role plays an important part in keeping the department organized, maintaining accurate design materials and samples, and ensuring the team has the information and resources needed to work efficiently.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day support to the Design team throughout the seasonal design and development calendar.
  • Maintain organization of the Design studio, including samples, fabrics, trims, reference materials, and seasonal design assets.
  • Organize, label, track, and maintain samples for design reviews, fittings, meetings, presentations, and photoshoots.
  • Assist with preparation for fittings, including pulling and organizing samples and materials, taking notes, and documenting requested updates.
  • Maintain seasonal design boards, reference materials, line sheets, and other working documents as directed by the Design team.
  • Assist with updating sketches, CADs, colorways, and other design documents based on direction and established designs.
  • Support the organization and maintenance of digital design files, ensuring information is accurate and easily accessible.
  • Assist with creating and updating presentation decks and materials for seasonal reviews and internal meetings.
  • Help prepare materials for design reviews, line reviews, market appointments, and other key milestones.
  • Coordinate sample and material movement within the Design team and to cross-functional partners as needed.
  • Assist with market, competitive, and trend research at the direction of the Design team.
  • Support special projects, photoshoots, showroom preparation, and other departmental needs as required.
  • Partner with Product Development, Technical Design, Raw Materials, and other cross-functional teams to support the flow of information and materials.
  • Handle general administrative and organizational needs for the Design department as assigned.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design preferred.
  • Previous internship or entry-level experience within a contemporary or luxury fashion design environment.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Basic understanding of garment construction, fabrics, trims, color, and the apparel development process.
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and shifting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proactive, resourceful, and willing to assist wherever needed.
  • Collaborative attitude with the ability to take direction and follow through consistently.
  • Strong interest in contemporary fashion and enthusiasm for learning the design and development process.
  • Hourly Rate: $25 - $27 (overtime eligible)
