Workday Payroll Manager 6 month Full Time Fixed Term Contract

This role is located at our office in Sydney, which serves as a central hub, providing support to our operational teams based in our two locations. We're looking for an experienced Senior Payroll Officerto help our payroll team maximise the value of Workday Payroll and build long-term capability across the function.
Following a major Workday implementation, we are focused on embedding best-practice payroll processes, strengthening team knowledge, improving reporting and insights, and ensuring our payroll operations are efficient, compliant, and scalable.
It's an opportunity to become share knowledge and best practice on Australian Workday Payroll, partnering closely with Payroll, People & Culture, Finance, Technology, and business leaders to help the organisation get the very best from its investment in Workday.
What You'll Be Doing
- Build capability and confidence within the payroll team through hands-on support.
- Review current ways of working and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and user experience.
- Troubleshoot payroll and system-related issues, identifying root causes and driving resolutions.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to improve payroll outcomes and employee experience.
- Develop and enhance payroll reporting, dashboards, and data insights.
- Work closely with external vendors and support partners to resolve complex issues and implement improvements.
You'll be someone who enjoys helping others learn, solving problems, and turning system capability into practical business outcomes.
You'll likely bring:
- Experience working with Workday Payroll in Australiais a must.
- Strong end-to-end payroll knowledge and understanding of Australian payroll legislation.
- The ability to build team capability and train payroll users at varying levels of experience.
- Experience developing payroll processes, documentation, and operating procedures.
- Strong reporting and data analysis skills.
- A practical approach to troubleshooting and problem-solving.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- The ability to translate technical concepts into simple, user-friendly solutions.
