Our client seeks a Senior ML Product Owner / Business Analyst to lead business analysis and product ownership for a cross-functional agile team focused on payment optimization. The role owns end-to-end development of ML and AI products in a high-visibility area, translating strategy into actionable delivery, aligning stakeholders, and ensuring measurable outcomes. This is a one year contract position with potential to convert to full time based on performance and business needs.
This is a contract to hire opportunity. Applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis and convert to FTE following contract duration. Rate: $65.00 to $75.00/hr. w2
Responsibilities:
  • Analyze product requests and translate them into high-level requirements.
  • Prepare detailed user stories and functional specifications.
  • Identify product opportunities and inform go-to-market strategy through data analysis and payment domain understanding.
  • Evaluate data availability, quality, and sourcing to inform solution design.
  • Conduct cross-product orchestration analysis to inform cross-system solution design.
  • Own and manage ML product roadmaps.
  • Define and prioritize objectives with Product Management and business stakeholders.
  • Translate strategic objectives into clear, actionable deliverables.
  • Drive quarterly and sprint-level delivery planning, including prioritization and sequencing.
  • Adapt plans based on changing business needs and execution constraints.
  • Oversee execution by monitoring delivery of features, stories, and tasks.
  • Review and validate completed work against acceptance criteria and business intent.
  • Represent the team in cross-team project meetings.
  • Drive collaboration across teams for aligned delivery of business objectives.
  • Identify and manage dependencies, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Communicate progress, challenges, and outcomes to stakeholders.

Experience Requirements:
  • 5+ years as a Business Analyst, Product Owner, Technical Product Manager, or related role.
  • Ability to convert ambiguous problems into structured product initiatives with clear business value.
  • Track record delivering real-time, customer-facing ML products.
  • Understanding of modern data ecosystems, pipelines, and ML lifecycle concepts.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical mindset.
  • Ability to draw statistically valid conclusions; proficiency in SQL and at least one analytical tool.
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration and communication skills with leadership in agile or iterative environments.
  • Ability to mentor teams and influence without direct authority.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, resolve blockers, and deliver results with urgency.
  • Bonus: Experience in merchant acquiring, payment service provider, or card network environments.
  • Bonus: Familiarity with tokenization, real-time payments, and the authorization lifecycle.
  • Bonus: Experience in large, complex, highly regulated organizations.
