This is a remote, nationwide role with travel across the country as required. While candidates based in the Midlands or North of England would be particularly well placed for the role, applications are welcomed from suitable candidates across all regions of England.
Standard working hours are Monday to Friday 8:00am to 16:30pm (30-minute lunch). The role requires a degree of flexibility outside of these hours, where necessary, to meet the operational requirements of the business and ensure the effective delivery of the role.
Job Overview
Vital Group is looking for a Project Manager to join their growing team. As Project Manager you will be responsible for organising and overseeing Vital Group’s projects. You must be able to work independently or as part of a team to meet customer expectations and achieve our company goals.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Hybrid role to include all the points below plus on-site attendance to assist the team with project completion. This will include managing electrical sign off process on projects and ensuring correct compliant certification is provided.
- Responsible for itemizing all parts, equipment & ancillaries required for the individual project with a focus on buying smart to maximise job margin. Clear and concise requests issued to the procurement team to allow orders to be placed in a timely manner.
- Liaising with project engineers on site to ensure timetables are met and issues are dealt with promptly.
- Liaising with operations / scheduling team to allocate labour & resources.
- Site survey attendance for projects that have been won to allow full and accurate programme of works to be created.
- Site survey attendance alongside sales team to assist technically and practically with project schemes.
- Acting as the main point of contact for sites during project works, including site attendance as required.
- Expansion of subcontractor network for all disciplines (electrical/controls etc.) across the UK to ensure local labour is always available to assist.
- Creation & population of project tracker to map quoted costs vs actual costs to ensure accurate job margins can be monitored.
- Responsible for keeping close control on project spending and reducing ad-hoc purchases caused by lack of planning at the outset.
- Commercial focus on making projects as profitable as possible.
- To provide regular feedback to Group Director of Projects regarding project status & profitability, highlighting any issues encountered and how to reduce the impact of these on future projects.
- Expanding the supplier network to ensure best value for money service is provided to our business.
- Assisting with recruitment of new additions to the Vital projects team.
Person Specification
Criteria - Education, Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- Good level of general education
- Previous experience in similar generator services companies or within the power generation industry OR EV Charging industry.
- Project management experience, preferably in power generation industry
- Experience of liaising with both customers and suppliers.
- Valid CSCS/ECS card
- Ability to manage own workload and establish priorities
- Strong commercial awareness
- Experience of working effectively as part of a team as well as independently
- Ability to solve problems with a positive attitude
- Self-motivated and able to learn quickly
- Strong attention to detail with high levels of accuracy
- Willingness to undertake further training as required for professional development
- Able to liaise with customers professionally and convey information
Desirable:
- Electrically qualified
- Brand specific generator training courses
