Civil Senior Designer

Role Summary
The Civil Senior Designer is a high-level drafting and design professional responsible for creating detailed layout drawings and finished plans for various civil engineering projects. This position involves working on custom jobs that include field surveys, design sketches, engineering support, and finalization of construction drawings. The senior-level role may also serve as a discipline lead, overseeing project resources and ensuring the accuracy and quality of all design outputs.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed civil design layouts and drafting drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Review and check drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project specifications.
• Coordinate project tasks, collaborating with engineering teams and internal/external resources.
• Perform conversions between state plane coordinates and plant coordinates for precise layout.
• Incorporate red-line markups and corrections to finalized drawings.
• Conduct interference checks and assess constructability of design drawings.
• Support field surveys and translate survey data into design documents.
• Assist junior drafters with technical questions and project tasks.
• Ensure drawings adhere to civil codes, standards, and project requirements.
• Perform detailed dimensional and bill of material checks as part of quality assurance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline with a focus in civil/structural design preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 4+ years of civil design and layout experience.
• Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D software.
• Strong drafting techniques and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in general math and trigonometry functions.
• Knowledge of civil codes and standards relevant to site development, storm drainage, water distribution, sanitary systems, and earthwork.
• Experience with industrial site development, permitting, grading, and earthwork.
• Strong PC skills including MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Excellent organizational, listening, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
• Availability for occasional overtime.

Publishing Pay Range: $50.00 - $55.00 hourly

This position offers a hybrid schedule, with time split between the office and remote work.
