Manufacturing Engineer – Estimator | Sittingbourne, United Kingdom | On-site | Up to £42,000

The Role

  • Collaborate closely with the bid team to understand requirements and translate them into actionable plans for operations and supply chain.
  • Develop high-impact, cost-effective estimates that contribute to winning proposals.
  • Provide support for customer fact-finding missions and supplier cost base analysis.
  • Articulate the content and basis of estimates professionally during bid review and approval processes.
  • Analyze build and support activity durations to estimate future targets and drive process improvements.
  • Track material costs and build times throughout the design development phase to accurately reflect production costs.

What You'll Need

  • Proven ability to create detailed Manufacturing Build Instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Understanding of the design transition from development to full-scale manufacturing, with an emphasis on Design for Manufacture (DFM).
  • Experience using systems like SAP, Oracle, or Epicor to manage complex Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Experience in calculating resourcing profiles and ensuring the appropriate skill mix.
  • A qualification in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated capability to estimate costs and influence key bid decisions.
