Job Description

Enterprise AI Architect (Microsoft 365 & Copilot)

Location: Remote; EST or CST preferred 
Type: W2H contract, M-F 8am-4pm EST
Duration: 9+ month contract to hire opportunity
Rate: $70/hr 

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Enterprise AI Architect to define and lead the architecture strategy for AI-powered solutions across Microsoft 365 and related enterprise platforms. This individual will serve as the technical authority for Microsoft Copilot, Copilot Studio, Power Platform, enterprise integrations, governance, and secure AI adoption. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in architecture design, identity and access management, data governance, automation, and enterprise-scale platform enablement.

This role collaborates closely with engineering, security, governance, compliance, and business stakeholders to establish scalable, reusable architecture patterns that accelerate AI adoption while maintaining enterprise controls and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain reference architectures for enterprise AI solutions across Microsoft 365 and adjacent platforms.
  • Lead architecture design and technical strategy for Microsoft Copilot, Copilot Studio, Power Platform integrations, connectors, and secure data access.
  • Establish enterprise standards for environment strategy, identity management, authentication, authorization, data boundary enforcement, and lifecycle management.
  • Design reusable architecture patterns for grounded AI, intelligent orchestration, agent-based solutions, and agent-to-agent collaboration.
  • Evaluate and guide integration approaches involving enterprise knowledge sources, indexed and synchronized content, custom connectors, federated access models, and external systems.
  • Partner with engineering teams to define implementation standards, Dev/Test/Prod environments, Application Lifecycle Management (ALM), deployment processes, and operational readiness frameworks.
  • Collaborate with security, governance, risk, and compliance teams to ensure AI solutions align with enterprise policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct architecture reviews and provide technical oversight, solution governance, and strategic recommendations for AI and automation initiatives.
  • Produce architecture artifacts, standards, design documentation, and executive-level technical presentations.

Required Qualifications

  • Extensive architecture experience across Microsoft 365, Power Platform, Copilot Studio, and enterprise integration ecosystems.
  • Deep understanding of identity management, authentication, authorization, data governance, environment strategies, and security architecture.
  • Proven experience designing scalable enterprise platforms, reusable services, integration frameworks, and cloud-based architectural patterns.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise search, AI grounding strategies, connector enablement, and intelligent automation architectures.
  • Experience developing architecture standards, governance frameworks, roadmaps, and executive-ready technical recommendations.
  • Strong ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience leading cross-functional architecture discussions and influencing enterprise technology decisions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with MCP-style interoperability, agent orchestration frameworks, and multi-agent architectures.
  • Experience building reporting-enabled AI solutions and enterprise platform governance models.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Fabric, Power BI Semantic Models, and enterprise data enablement strategies.
  • Experience within financial services, banking, insurance, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with enterprise compliance, risk management, and governance frameworks.
