Job Description

About the engagement

Capitex is a specialist Financial Crime Compliance talent provider. We are hiring a Fraud Data Analyst for a 6-month contract supporting the 24/7 fraud operation of a leading international banking client.

The shape of the engagement: the first phase is delivered fully remote from the UK. From Month 3, the engagement moves onsite with the client overseas, with relocation fully supported - flight, visa sponsorship and a housing allowance on top of your fee. Location specifics are shared at screening stage. Onsite participation from Month 3 is a firm requirement of the role, not a preference - please only apply if a supported working stint abroad genuinely works for you.

The role

You will be the analytical engine of the fraud operations team - working alongside L1 and L2 fraud analysts and a senior fraud investigator, and acting as the bridge between what the operation sees and what the detection estate does.

  • Analyse fraud alert and case data to identify trends, emerging typologies, detection gaps and false-positive drivers
  • Support rule and threshold tuning on the client's fraud monitoring platform - build the evidence base, model the impact, document proposed changes
  • Design and produce operational MI: alert volumes, disposition outcomes, SLA performance, fraud losses and prevented losses
  • Build and maintain dashboards and recurring reporting for fraud leadership
  • Support post-incident and thematic reviews with data deep-dives
  • Contribute to knowledge transfer and coaching of the client's analyst team

What we are looking for

  • 3+ years in data analytics within fraud, financial crime or banking operations
  • Strong SQL - essential and tested at screening
  • Python or R - a strong plus
  • BI and visualisation tools (Power BI, Tableau or equivalent) - dashboards you have built, not viewed
  • Familiarity with fraud detection platforms and alert data structures (FICO Falcon, NICE Actimize, SAS or equivalent environments) - enough to interrogate their output and support tuning
  • Clear English and the ability to present analysis to senior stakeholders
  • A passport with 12+ months' validity remaining
  • Immediate or short-notice availability strongly preferred

Engagement details

  • 6-month consultancy agreement with Capitex, with extension possible on client renewal
  • Competitive all-inclusive monthly consultancy fee, with housing allowance and flight covered for the onsite phase
  • Visa and work authorisation for the onsite phase arranged and sponsored
  • Laptop provided
