Senior IT/OT Systems Architect – Intelligent Transportation Systems | 24-Month W-2 Contract | Onsite Albany, NY

About the Role
We're seeking a Senior IT/OT Systems Architect to support a New York State government agency on a long-term transportation technology engagement. You'll design secure architectures that connect roadside operational technology, such as traffic signals, message signs, cameras, and detection systems, with modern cloud platforms, data lakes, and enterprise analytics. You'll also lead a team of architects and analysts and manage technology vendors. This is a 24-month contract based onsite in Albany, NY from Day 1.

Responsibilities

• Architect IT/OT convergence solutions that integrate field devices and traffic systems with cloud databases, data lakes, and enterprise analytics
• Design secure, segmented architectures that isolate sensitive OT control networks from corporate IT networks
• Design and implement hybrid cloud architectures (AWS, Azure, or private cloud) that ingest high-volume, real-time data streams
• Provide technical direction for Intelligent Transportation Systems devices, including Dynamic Message Signs, CCTV cameras, Road Weather Information Systems, and vehicle detection systems
• Lead and mentor a team of solution architects, data architects, and business/systems analysts
• Evaluate, select, and manage hardware and software vendors, ensuring compliance with Federal and State policies and standards

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years in IT, systems engineering, and operational technology in an architect or lead systems engineer role
• 7+ years of IT/OT convergence experience, integrating OT systems (such as traffic signals) with cloud databases, data lakes, and enterprise analytics
• 6+ years designing secure architectures that isolate OT control networks from corporate IT networks
• 6+ years designing and implementing hybrid cloud architectures (AWS, Azure, or private cloud) for large-scale real-time data ingestion
• 5+ years working with ITS devices: Dynamic Message Signs (DMS), CCTV cameras, Road Weather Information Systems (RWIS), and vehicle detection systems (radar, microwave, loop detectors)
• 4+ years managing a team of solution architects, data architects, and/or business/systems analysts
• 4+ years evaluating, selecting, and managing hardware and software vendors to Federal and/or State policies and standards

Work Requirements

• Onsite in Albany, NY from Day 1 (no remote option)
• W-2 only; no corp-to-corp or third-party arrangements
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
