Job Description

Solution Architect (Collaboration Technology) - 6 months - East Kilbride (Hybrid) - £800+ - DV Clearance

A critical national infrastructure organisation is seeking a hands-on Solution Architect to own the end-to-end architecture for secure voice, video, conferencing and persistent chat services. This is a delivery-facing role combining architectural ownership with practical technical involvement - you'll work directly in development, test and service environments to validate designs, prove integrations and support engineering teams through complex troubleshooting across platforms including Jitsi Meet, Rocket.Chat, Matrix, Element and Pexip.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own end-to-end architecture for secure voice, video, conferencing and chat services
  • Work at implementation level with engineers - reviewing configuration, APIs, logs and packet captures
  • Reproduce faults, validate fixes, and use prototypes/PoCs to test design decisions
  • Design and assure integrations across identity, authentication, certificates, encryption and network boundaries
  • Apply standards such as WebRTC, SIP and RTP/SRTP, including federation and interoperability
  • Lead room-based collaboration design - conferencing appliances, codecs, cameras, DSP and control interfaces
  • Provide architectural leadership across multiple programmes and complex domains
  • Lead governance frameworks, reusable templates and reference architectures
  • Mentor solution architects and act as final escalation point for architectural decisions

Ideal Candidate:

  • Strong practical experience designing, deploying or supporting enterprise voice, video and chat solutions (not purely conceptual architecture)
  • Representative mix of Jitsi Meet, Rocket.Chat, Matrix, Element, Pexip or comparable platforms
  • Good understanding of WebRTC, SIP, RTP/SRTP, media traversal, federation and encryption
  • Experience integrating room-based AV hardware with conferencing services
  • Confidence using Linux or Windows admin tools, command-line utilities, logs and packet analysis
  • Proven stakeholder management and ability to influence senior technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong understanding of a broad range of Microsoft and Linux-based technologies across physical, virtual and containerised compute
  • Experience designing and implementing cloud solutions across major providers (Azure, AWS, GCP)

Desirable Experience:

  • Detailed experience of Pexip Infinity or comparable conferencing infrastructure
  • Building, hardening and operating self-hosted Jitsi Meet, Rocket.Chat, Matrix or Element in restricted environments
  • Room acoustics, DSP, echo cancellation and control integration
  • On-premise classified environment architecture and Zero Trust principles
