Job Description
The Manufacturing Engineer will lead the design and development of manufacturing, assembly, welding, and inspection fixtures using SolidWorks. The role will support fixture validation, manufacturing trials, shop-floor issue resolution, process capability, productivity improvements, Lean initiatives, time studies, line balancing, and Value Stream Mapping. The position will also develop standard work instructions, perform Root Cause Analysis, and support Kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Skills
- Design and development of manufacturing, assembly, welding, and inspection fixtures using SolidWorks, including 3D fixture layouts, assemblies, detailed fabrication drawings, and GD&T.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing and Quality teams to validate fixture concepts, support trials, resolve shop-floor issues, and improve process capability and productivity.
- Analyze assembly lines and manufacturing processes using Lean principles, Time Studies, Line Balancing, elemental breakdown, video time studies, VA/NVA/RNVA analysis, and Muri analysis.
- Develop Current State and Future State VSM, identify bottlenecks, waste, inefficiencies, and capacity requirements, and develop process and productivity improvement roadmaps.
- Develop and maintain Standard Work Instructions and Video Work Instructions covering fixture usage, operator guidance, and safety.
- Perform Root Cause Analysis for quality failures, defects, and downtime, support corrective actions, and participate in Kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering.
- Strong manufacturing engineering experience with hands-on shop-floor experience.
- Experience in fixture design and manufacturing.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and GD&T.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Time Studies, Line Balancing, Value Stream Mapping, Continuous Improvement, Kaizen, Root Cause Analysis, and Work Instructions.
