Access Management Lead (Access Control & Federation SME)

Position Overview

The Access Management Lead will serve as the subject matter expert (SME) responsible for assessing and defining enterprise access management capabilities for a Identity, Credential, and Access Management (ICAM) engagement within a Federal environment. This role will evaluate current access management workflows, authentication and authorization processes, and integration points to support the development of future-state ICAM capabilities.

The Access Management Lead will provide technical expertise in access control, federation strategies, and enterprise authentication solutions, ensuring alignment with Federal cybersecurity requirements, Zero Trust principles, and mission needs.

Responsibilities

  • Assess current access management workflows, including Single Sign-On (SSO), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), and Privileged Access Management (PAM) capabilities.
  • Evaluate existing authentication, authorization, and access control processes to identify gaps and improvement opportunities.
  • Provide technical recommendations for future-state access management and federation strategies.
  • Support the design and integration of enterprise access management capabilities with existing applications, systems, and platforms.
  • Define access control approaches, including role-based access control (RBAC), attribute-based access control (ABAC), and policy-based access models.
  • Collaborate with ICAM architects, identity governance teams, cybersecurity stakeholders, and application owners to support ICAM implementation.
  • Develop technical documentation, assessments, recommendations, and roadmap inputs for access management capabilities.
  • Ensure access management solutions align with Federal security standards, Zero Trust principles, and identity security best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in Identity, Credential, and Access Management (ICAM), access management, or identity security domains.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting Federal government identity and access management initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of authentication, authorization, federation, and enterprise access control concepts.
  • Experience assessing and designing access management solutions involving SSO, MFA, PAM, and identity federation.
  • Experience integrating access management capabilities with enterprise applications and mission systems.
  • Knowledge of Federal cybersecurity requirements and Zero Trust principles.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Federal ICAM modernization or greenfield ICAM implementation programs.
  • Experience with access management and federation technologies, including:
    • Single Sign-On (SSO)
    • Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
    • Privileged Access Management (PAM)
    • Identity Federation
    • SAML, OAuth, and OpenID Connect
  • Familiarity with Federal identity and cybersecurity frameworks, including:
    • FICAM
    • NIST SP 800-53
    • NIST SP 800-207 Zero Trust Architecture
  • Experience developing enterprise access strategies, integration approaches, and identity security roadmaps.
