Endpoint Management Engineer

Description

We are looking for an experienced Endpoint Management Engineer to oversee and enhance the end-user device ecosystem for a manufacturing organization in Madison, Wisconsin. This contract opportunity with permanent potential is ideal for a hands-on systems engineer who enjoys improving endpoint operations, strengthening device security, and delivering a dependable user experience across the business. You will work closely with a collaborative IT team while serving as a key resource for endpoint strategy, support, and automation.

Responsibilities:
Oversee the administration of enterprise endpoint devices such as laptops, desktop computers, mobile devices, printers, RF scanners, and related peripherals across the organization.
Manage modern endpoint platforms, including Microsoft Intune and Jamf, to maintain secure configurations, policy enforcement, and reliable device performance.
Direct the full lifecycle of user devices by coordinating setup, imaging, deployment, refresh activities, replacement planning, and retirement of outdated equipment.
Support Windows rollout initiatives through tools such as Windows Autopilot while maintaining standardized builds and configuration consistency.
Lead patching and update activities for endpoint systems by validating releases, deploying updates, resolving issues, and minimizing disruption to business applications.
Develop and maintain PowerShell automation to simplify administrative tasks, improve operational efficiency, and reduce manual support effort.
Provide technical support for a mixed endpoint environment that may include Windows, macOS, Linux, and specialized hardware used in manufacturing operations.
Monitor endpoint compliance, enrollment status, and device health to identify problems early and drive timely resolution of reliability or configuration issues.
Act as an escalation resource for advanced endpoint incidents and collaborate with security, infrastructure, and network teams to address complex technical challenges.
Assist with conference room and audiovisual technology support and participate in an on-call rotation for high-priority operational issues.

Requirements

5+ years of experience supporting enterprise-scale endpoint environments.
Strong background with endpoint management technologies such as Microsoft Intune, Jamf, SCCM, or other comparable platforms.
Hands-on experience with device provisioning, configuration management, patch administration, and endpoint security practices.
Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation and systems administration.
Working knowledge of mobile device management principles and modern endpoint compliance standards.
Ability to troubleshoot complex hardware and software issues independently and drive problems through resolution.
Experience supporting mobile hardware, printers, RF scanners, or other specialized endpoint equipment is highly valued.
Prior experience in a manufacturing, distribution, or large enterprise setting is preferred.
