Role Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Technical Solution Architect to lead the future-state architecture design for Hanover's Specialty Insurance Transformation program. The architect will be responsible for defining the target technology landscape, modernization strategy, integration architecture, application architecture, and implementation roadmap supporting Excess & Surplus (E&S) and Professional & Executive Lines (PERL). This role will serve as the bridge between business vision, enterprise architecture, and solution delivery teams to ensure alignment with Hanover's strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Translate business capabilities, operating model requirements, and transformation objectives into scalable future-state technology architecture.
Assess current-state systems, integrations, workflows, and technology platforms to identify gaps, risks, technical debt, and modernization opportunities.
Define architecture principles, standards, reference architectures, and solution guidelines aligned with Hanover's enterprise strategy.
Design future-state application architecture supporting underwriting, policy administration, policy servicing, workflow management, and operational functions.
Define target integration architecture, API strategy, event-driven interactions, and data exchange patterns across the ecosystem.
Establish PMS as the System of Record for policy, customer, underwriting, and transaction data while defining appropriate data ownership and governance models.
Design the future-state interaction model between PMS, Underwriting Workbench, Policy Processing applications, Hanover AI solutions, third-party platforms, brokers, and downstream enterprise systems.
Define architecture approaches that support Specialized Insurance capabilities across E&S and Professional & Executive Lines business operations.
Evaluate opportunities to simplify, consolidate, modernize, retire, or rationalize existing core platform capabilities and supporting applications.
Design a lightweight Policy Processing application layer to support policy lifecycle activities including submissions, endorsements, renewals, cancellations, reinstatements, and servicing transactions.
Define architecture patterns for workflow orchestration, automation, AI integration, document generation, rules execution, and business process management.
Provide high-level solution designs, implementation considerations, non-functional requirements, and architectural guidance for future-state implementation.
Collaborate with business SMEs, enterprise architects, product owners, and engineering teams to ensure solution alignment and feasibility.
Support development of transformation roadmaps, migration strategies, transition architectures, and implementation sequencing.
Identify architecture risks, dependencies, security considerations, performance requirements, and mitigation strategies.
Lead architecture reviews, design governance activities, and technical decision-making processes.
Present architecture recommendations, technology options, and strategic findings to business and technology leadership teams.
Required Qualifications
15+ years of experience in solution architecture, enterprise architecture, or technology consulting.
Strong experience within Property & Casualty Insurance and Specialty Insurance domains.
Deep understanding of policy administration, underwriting, policy processing, rating, billing, claims, and distribution ecosystems.
Proven experience designing large-scale digital transformation and modernization solutions.
Expertise in application architecture, integration architecture, API-led connectivity, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
Strong knowledge of cloud-native architectures, software engineering best practices, and enterprise integration patterns.
Experience defining target-state architecture blueprints, migration strategies, and technology roadmaps.
Strong stakeholder management and executive presentation skills.
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both business and technology audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Guidewire, Insurity, Duck Creek, or other Insurance Core Platforms.
Experience designing AI-enabled business workflows and intelligent automation solutions.
