Policy & Data Analyst - Role Overview

Location: Melbourne - CBD and Inner Metro suburbs

Reference: VG/DE/ECE/

The Policy and Data Analyst will undertake data analysis and policy development as part of a team working on the expansion of kindergarten which is driving strategic initiatives aligned with departmental reform objectives. The role requires a policy and data all rounder experienced in understanding quantitative implications of policy views and decisions, data analysis and translating data results into insights, and using data insights to support business decisions.

Key responsibilities include supporting the maintenance and utilisation of complex modelling tools, policy analysis and development, monitoring the implementation of reform through analytical tools and reporting, and strengthening stakeholder relationships.

Core Responsibilities
  • Maintain and utilise complex modelling tools (strong Excel skills essential).
  • Support policy analysis and development.
  • Monitor implementation of reform via analytical tools and reporting.
  • Strengthen relationships with internal and external stakeholders to drive reform.
Attributes, Experience & Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of modelling approaches to identify quantitative impacts of different policy options.
  • Policy skills including analysing and critically evaluating information, and identifying potential implications and risks of proposed policy options.
  • Well developed conceptual and analytical skills, with evidence of research and synthesising information from diverse sources.
  • Ability to translate data results into actionable insights to inform strategic decision making.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Experience collaborating with internal and external stakeholders on complex policy issues.
  • Tertiary qualification(s) in a relevant field.
