Senior Associate or Counsel, Trust & Estate Litigation

About the Role

A growing Bay Area legal practice is seeking an experienced trust and estate litigator to take on a leadership role. You will guide complex matters, support clients through consequential disputes, and help develop the practice group and its attorneys.

What You'll Do

• Lead complex trust, probate, and fiduciary litigation from case assessment through resolution.

• Develop case strategy for matters such as will and trust contests, fiduciary duty claims, accounting disputes, surcharge actions, and elder abuse litigation.

• Represent trustees, executors, administrators, beneficiaries, older adults, and their families.

• Build and maintain client relationships, serving as a trusted advisor and primary contact.

• Contribute to business development and the continued growth of the practice.

• Supervise, mentor, and provide feedback to associates working on active matters.

• Help shape the practice group's direction and collaborative culture.

What We're Looking For

• At least 8 years of dedicated trust and estate litigation experience in California, with active litigation practice in this area.

• Substantial experience handling complex trust, probate, and fiduciary disputes, including will or trust contests, fiduciary duty claims, accounting disputes, surcharge actions, or elder abuse matters.

• Active membership in good standing with the State Bar of California and a Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.

• Experience driving case strategy and supervising or mentoring junior attorneys.

• Leadership skills and interest in building a practice group, along with client relationships or a network in the Bay Area trust and estate litigation community.

• Strong interpersonal skills and a collegial, collaborative approach.

• Authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary: $225,000 to $275,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Location

Hybrid, with San Mateo as the preferred primary location. Pleasanton and San Jose offices are also available.
