Enjoy building relationships with garden centres and independent retailers?

Looking for a field sales role where you can develop existing accounts, win new business and take ownership of your territory?

We're recruiting an Area Sales Manager for a supplier to the garden retail sector. You'll combine regular customer visits with account development and new business, focusing on growing sales and strengthening relationships across your region.

If you're an experienced salesperson with a background in garden retail or related consumer products, we'd love to hear from you.

What's on offer?

  • Home-based role with regular travel across your territory

  • An existing customer base to develop alongside new business opportunities

  • Ownership of your customer relationships and territory planning

  • A varied role combining sales, account management and in-store support

What's the job?

As Area Sales Manager, you'll manage and develop retail accounts across northern London and the surrounding territory, including Hertfordshire, Essex, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire.

You'll visit customers regularly, secure orders and identify opportunities to increase sales. You'll also develop new accounts and work with colleagues to ensure customers receive a high standard of service.

Day to day, you'll be:

  • Building relationships with garden centres and independent retailers

  • Securing orders and growing sales within existing accounts

  • Identifying, approaching and winning new customers

  • Negotiating commercial opportunities and improving in-store visibility

  • Planning efficient routes and managing your diary

  • Supporting merchandising and coordinating customer support

  • Working towards sales and activity targets

  • Reviewing sales performance and sharing customer and competitor feedback

What do I need?

  • Experience in field sales, account management or business development

  • A track record of growing accounts and winning new business

  • Confidence selling and negotiating face to face

  • Strong organisation and the ability to manage your own territory

  • Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to achieving targets

  • Full UK driving licence

You might already be an Area Sales Manager, Territory Manager or Sales Representative supplying garden centres or independent retailers. Equally, you could bring transferable experience from giftware, homewares, DIY or other consumer products.

Most importantly, you'll enjoy getting out in front of customers, spotting opportunities and following them through.
