Expressions of Interest | Defence Infrastructure Professionals

Downer's Specialised Pavements & Projects team  is seeking Expressions of Interest from experienced and suitably qualified Program Managers, Project Managers, Project Engineers and Supervisors with significant Defence sector experience.

We are particularly interested in professionals who have either:

• Worked directly within Defence (Army, Air Force, Navy or related Defence organisations), or

• Delivered infrastructure projects as a contractor within Defence environments.

These opportunities form part of an upcoming Defence tender across Australia. If successful, the roles will support delivery of the five-year program and may require fly-in, fly-out (FIFO) arrangements.

We're looking for people with experience in:

• Delivering infrastructure, construction, maintenance or asset projects within Defence airfield environments.
• Working within Defence governance frameworks, security protocols and operational requirements.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with Defence stakeholders and base personnel.
• Managing works within secure or operationally under strict time critical environments.
• Navigating Defence procurement, compliance and approval processes.
• Leading teams to safely deliver complex projects to strict time, quality and budget requirements.

Roles We Are Seeking Expressions of Interest For

Program Managers

Strategic leaders responsible for the successful delivery of Defence programs and portfolios. You'll provide leadership across multiple regions, manage key stakeholder relationships, drive commercial outcomes and ensure alignment with Defence objectives.

Project Managers

Experienced professionals responsible for end-to-end project delivery, including planning, commercial management, stakeholder engagement, safety, quality and operational performance.

Project Engineers

Engineering professionals who can coordinate technical delivery, manage project documentation, support construction activities and ensure projects meet Defence and client requirements.

Supervisors

Hands-on operational leaders with strong experience managing crews, subcontractors and day-to-day project delivery within Defence or other highly regulated environments.

Key Responsibilities Across These Roles

• Deliver projects safely and efficiently within Defence environments.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with Defence stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with Defence, contractual and regulatory requirements.
• Lead project teams and contractors to achieve successful delivery outcomes.
• Manage project documentation, reporting and quality assurance processes.
• Drive a strong safety culture aligned with Downer's Zero Harm principles.

To Succeed In These Roles, You Will Bring

• Demonstrated experience working within Defence or delivering Defence projects as a contractor.
• Strong understanding of Defence processes, governance and stakeholder expectations.
• Established networks and relationships across Defence environments (highly regarded).
• Relevant qualifications suited to your discipline and level of responsibility.
• Strong communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance.
• Flexibility to travel or undertake FIFO work where required.
