Cabling Technician

Job Title: Telecom Cabling Technician (W2 only)

Location: Ashburn, VA
Duration: 6–12 Months Contract

Job Description:

We are seeking a Data Center Cabling Technician to install, maintain, test, and decommission network cabling and infrastructure in a data center environment.

Key Responsibilities & Required Skills:

• Install, route, dress, label, terminate, and remove copper and fiber-optic cables.

• Install and connect network equipment; perform decommissioning and service swaps of live network devices.

• Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, port maps, and design documents; maintain redline updates.

• Install ladder racks and seismic bracing above and below raised floors.

• Perform copper/fiber testing, troubleshooting, and fusion splicing (Ribbon/Single, OSP/ISP).

• Operate Fluke DSX-5000 and OTDR testers; program testers and submit results through LinkWare/LinkWare Live.

• Create and apply mass labels according to port maps and differentiate active cables from decommissioned cables.

• Work with MDF/IDF closets, fiber trunks, and the FIM database/scanning equipment.

• Maintain accurate documentation, follow safety and quality standards, and provide project updates.

Requirements:

• Hands-on experience with telecom hand tools, low-voltage cabling, and data center infrastructure.

• Knowledge of cable testing, wiring schemes, terminations, and troubleshooting.

• Strong attention to detail, customer service, communication, and teamwork skills.
