The Role
- Apply expertise in naval architecture and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to support the design, analysis, and optimization of maritime systems, including hovercraft and ships.
- Conduct CFD and finite element analyses (FEA) to assess system performance, validate adequacy, and optimize designs.
- Collaborate with project teams, including engineers and program managers, to validate design assumptions and refine system performance.
- Manage task requirements and execution timelines effectively, developing Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms).
- Document technical findings in comprehensive reports and present results to diverse stakeholders.
- Support military and commercial customers with a wide range of naval architecture design and analysis activities.
What You'll Need
- Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in naval architecture with a focus on CFD applications.
- Proficiency in CFD software (e.g., Star-CCM+, ANSYS Fluent) and FEA software (e.g., Femap, NASTRAN).
- Strong understanding of fluid mechanics, hydrodynamics, and maritime systems.
- Experience with CAD and 3D modeling tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and presentations.
- Ability to utilize spreadsheets for design equations and interpret experimental data.
- Must hold an Active Secret Clearance.
