Job Description
Leidos seeks a Senior Digital/Embedded Firmware Engineer to design and deliver mission-critical solutions for national security, health, and engineering customers. In this role, you will architect, implement, and optimize embedded firmware for advanced hardware platforms, enabling reliable real-time performance and secure operation. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams in systems, hardware, and cybersecurity to integrate and validate solutions from concept through deployment. Responsibilities include developing C/C++ firmware on microcontrollers and SoCs, implementing communication protocols, performing rigorous testing, and troubleshooting complex hardware/software interactions. You'll contribute to requirements definition, documentation, and continuous improvement of engineering practices. Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize digital and embedded firmware for mission-critical systems
- Collaborate with hardware, systems, and cybersecurity teams to integrate and validate solutions
- Implement real-time control, communication, and diagnostic features on embedded platforms
- Perform code reviews, unit testing, and integration testing to ensure reliability and performance
- Troubleshoot and resolve firmware defects and hardware/software interface issues
- Contribute to system architecture, requirements analysis, and technical documentation
- Apply secure coding practices and support certification or compliance activities for government clients
- Mentor junior engineers and share best practices within a collaborative, agile environment
