Position Overview

We are seeking a Temporary Accountant II to provide support to the Finance Manager for ORCA within Strategy Department. This position will assist with a variety of accounting and financial operations activities, including accounts payable and receivable, cash management, reconciliations, journal entries, and customer invoicing support. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of accounting principles, experience working with debits and credits, and strong Excel skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) activities related to the operating and capital expenditures of the ORCA system.
• Support cash and treasury management functions, including:
  • Customer refunds
  • Vendor payments
  • Stale-dated check processing
• Assist with month-end accounting activities, including reconciliations and journal entries.
• Provide support in responding to and satisfying customer invoice requests.
• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with established accounting procedures.
• Collaborate with the Finance Manager and other stakeholders to support ongoing financial operations.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field, or equivalent related work experience.
• Understanding of general ledger accounting, including debits and credits.
• Experience with Accounts Receivable and/or Accounts Payable processes.
• Mid-to-advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

• Experience supporting financial operations for public sector, transportation, or large organizational environments.

Desired Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will be a detail-oriented accounting professional with hands-on AR/AP experience, strong Excel capabilities, and a working knowledge of general ledger accounting. They will be comfortable supporting day-to-day financial operations while assisting with month-end close activities and customer-related financial requests.
