Job Description

Managed Care Specialist

Introduction

The Managed Care Specialist position involves eligibility determination, case management, documentation, research, customer/client communication, database management, and administrative support. Training is extensive and may last up to 6 weeks. Training may be virtual or in-office based on supervisor requirements. Contractors must attend all scheduled training sessions. No preplanned PTO will be approved during training weeks.

Responsibilities

  • Determine individual and family eligibility for applicable care programs.
  • Assist with coordinating schedules and communicating with internal and external clients.
  • Conduct client interviews and collect relevant facts and information.
  • Compile case data and provide recommendations to attorneys or appropriate stakeholders.
  • Manage assigned casework in a timely and organized manner.
  • Maintain accurate case documentation and ensure appropriate case resolution.
  • Conduct legal research and analyze legal papers and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with drafting legal documents and accurately document research findings.
  • Work efficiently across multiple databases and systems to research and extract information.
  • Attend workgroup meetings and actively participate in discussions.
  • Provide administrative and operational support to leadership as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality and accuracy when handling sensitive case information.
  • Prioritize multiple assignments and meet established deadlines with minimal supervision.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Associate degree required.
  • Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including:
  • Microsoft Word
  • Excel
  • Outlook
  • PowerPoint
  • SharePoint
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent note-taking, email organization, and information-distribution skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background or education in Paralegal Studies.
  • Previous experience working in a legal environment.
  • Customer service or call center experience.
  • Experience with case management, eligibility determination, legal research, or documentation.
  • Experience working with multiple databases and information systems.
