Summary:
An opportunity to join a growing Real Estate Finance team supporting the origination, structuring and portfolio management of commercial real estate lending transactions. The role combines relationship management, credit analysis and business development, working across the full lending lifecycle while maintaining a strong focus on risk management and client service.
Key Responsibilities
• Support the growth of the Real Estate Finance business through the acquisition of new clients and the management of an existing portfolio.
• Partner with senior Relationship Directors to originate, structure and execute commercial real estate lending transactions.
• Assess lending opportunities through detailed financial analysis, cash flow modelling and evaluation of key risk metrics.
• Gather, analyse and interpret financial information including financial statements, management accounts, business plans and profit and loss accounts.
• Prepare high-quality credit papers, transaction proposals and lending recommendations to support credit approval.
• Structure lending facilities across a broad range of commercial real estate asset classes, ensuring appropriate risk mitigation and commercial viability.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with property investors, borrowers, intermediaries, valuers, solicitors and other professional advisers to develop new business opportunities.
• Act as a trusted relationship manager for clients throughout the lending lifecycle, delivering a high level of service and identifying opportunities to deepen relationships.
• Monitor portfolio performance, ensuring covenant compliance, financial performance and ongoing credit quality.
• Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders including Credit Risk, Lending, Legal, Operations and Portfolio Management to deliver transactions efficiently.
• Ensure all lending activities are completed in accordance with regulatory requirements, internal policies and risk frameworks.
• Support wider team initiatives and contribute to the continued development of the Real Estate Finance business.
Experience & Skills
• Proven experience within Commercial or Corporate Real Estate Finance.
• Strong understanding of commercial property lending, investment finance and development finance.
• Experience originating, structuring or supporting commercial real estate lending transactions typically exceeding £2.5 million.
• Demonstrable experience preparing credit papers, financial analysis and lending recommendations.
• Strong report writing and deal structuring capabilities.
• Experience across a diverse range of asset classes including: - Residential investment portfolios (BTL and HMO) - Offices - Retail - Industrial and logistics - Leisure - Purpose-Built Student Accommodation (PBSA) - Mixed-use developments
• Sound understanding of credit risk, operational risk and regulatory requirements within commercial lending.
• Knowledge of AML, Financial Crime, Consumer Duty and wider regulatory obligations.
• Excellent analytical, commercial and relationship management skills.
• Strong stakeholder management with the ability to build productive relationships internally and externally.
• Ability to prioritise workload, manage multiple transactions simultaneously and work effectively in a fast-paced lending environment.
• High levels of professionalism, integrity and sound commercial judgement.
