Job Description

Are you a dynamic sales professional with a passion for driving growth and expanding market presence? We are looking for a Business Development Manager to lead sales efforts across North America for our Appleton product portfolio. Ideal candidate location is Chicago, IL or Houston, TX, though we may consider candidates in other locations. In this role, you’ll be responsible for driving revenue growth, providing product expertise, and developing strategic partnerships with customers and our channel. In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Drive sales growth within the data center market.
  • Identify, develop, and close new business opportunities with owners, operators, engineers, contractors, and channel partners.
  • Build and maintain strategic customer relationships.
  • Conduct direct sales calls as appropriate to drive the objectives of the business
  • Maintain an active pipeline and provide accurate forecasting and business updates.
  • Collaborate with regional sales teams to develop account and market growth strategies.
  • Influence project specifications and position Emerson solutions early in the sales cycle.
  • Monitor market trends, customer needs, and competitive activity to identify growth opportunities.
  • Partner with marketing on industry events, webinars, and demand-generation activities.
  • Maintain an active pipeline and provide accurate forecasting and business updates.
  • Represent Emerson at customer meetings, industry conferences, and trade events.

You identify and seize new opportunities. You use knowledge of business drivers and how strategies and tactics play out in the market to guide actions. You build partnerships and work collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives. You adjust communication to fit the audience and the message while driving results.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, a Technical Field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years business development or sales experience with consistent track record of success. 
  • Experience driving sales growth in a business-to-business environment.
  • Strong relationship-building, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to develop sales strategies based on customer needs and market trends.
  • Experience working across cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and CRM tools.
  • Requires 50 -70% travel time

 Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:

  • Experience in the data center, critical infrastructure, electrical, automation, or industrial technology markets.
  • Knowledge of power distribution, thermal management, automation, networking, or related technologies.
  • Experience working with consulting engineers, contractors, distributors, and end users.
  • Proven success developing and growing strategic customer relationships.
  • MBA or advanced business degree.

The salary range for this role is $ 120,000 -140,000 plus bonus, commensurate with the skills, talent, capabilities, and experience each candidate brings to the role.
