Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced CI/CD Engineer with strong GitHub and DevOps expertise along with hands-on IBM i / AS400 development experience.
The ideal candidate will have experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, managing source code through Git/GitHub, automating builds and deployments, and integrating modern DevOps practices with traditional IBM i applications.
This role will focus on modernizing and automating software delivery processes for IBM i environments while improving code quality, deployment efficiency, and release management.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
  • Manage GitHub repositories, branching strategies, pull requests, code reviews, and version control.
  • Integrate GitHub-based CI/CD workflows with IBM i / AS400 development and deployment environments.
  • Support IBM i application development involving RPG, RPGLE, CL/CLLE, COBOL, and related technologies.
  • Automate IBM i application builds, testing, packaging, and deployments.
  • Implement automated code validation, testing, and deployment workflows.
  • Establish modern source control and DevOps practices for IBM i development teams.
  • Develop scripts for build, deployment, and release automation using Python, Bash, Shell, or PowerShell.
  • Configure and maintain GitHub Actions workflows, runners, secrets, and environment configurations.
  • Integrate code quality checks, static analysis, automated testing, and quality gates into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Collaborate with development, QA, infrastructure, and release teams to streamline software delivery.
  • Troubleshoot pipeline failures, deployment issues, source-control conflicts, and environment-related problems.
  • Maintain deployment documentation, release procedures, rollback processes, and operational standards.
Required Skills
  • 5+ years of experience in software development, DevOps, CI/CD, or release engineering.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Git, GitHub, and GitHub Actions.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipeline development and automation.
  • Professional experience working with IBM i / AS400 / iSeries environments.
  • Development experience with RPG, RPGLE/RPG IV, CL/CLLE, COBOL, or related IBM i technologies.
  • Strong understanding of source-code management, branching, merging, pull requests, and release management.
  • Experience automating application builds, testing, and deployments.
  • Scripting experience with Python, Bash, Shell, or PowerShell.
  • Understanding of DevOps principles, CI/CD best practices, and Agile methodologies.
  • Experience with application deployment, environment configuration, troubleshooting, and production support.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines specifically for IBM i / AS400 applications.
  • Experience with ARCAD, RDi, IBM i Access Client Solutions, or similar IBM i development/DevOps tools.
  • Experience with IBM i source-code management and build automation.
  • Knowledge of Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or other CI/CD platforms.
  • Experience with automated testing, static code analysis, and code-quality tools.
  • Familiarity with REST APIs, artifact repositories, and deployment automation.
  • Exposure to cloud-based DevOps environments and infrastructure automation.
  • Experience with DB2 for i, IFS, or related IBM i technologies.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate combines modern GitHub-based CI/CD expertise with hands-on IBM i / AS400 development experience.
Candidates should understand traditional IBM i development workflows and have demonstrated experience integrating those environments with modern source control, automated builds, testing, deployment, and release-management practices.
