Job Description
Provide hands-on nursing care within California healthcare facilities where your clinical judgment, patient assessment skills, and collaboration support coordinated care and continuity across a variety of healthcare settings.
At International SOS Government Medical Services, you'll support healthcare programs that improve patient care and operational readiness across the U.S. and internationally. Founded in 1984, International SOS operates in more than 90 countries, delivering healthcare, medical assistance, emergency response, and workforce support services worldwide.
Practice Setting: Veterans Home, Correctional Healthcare Facility, or State Hospital.
You'll provide direct nursing care by administering medications and treatments, performing patient assessments, implementing care plans, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary healthcare team to support coordinated patient care.
Contingency: This position is contingent upon contract award.
Employment Opportunities: Full-time, PRN, and 13-week assignments may be available based on program needs and contract requirements.
Schedule: 12-hour day or night shifts, 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. or 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.
Responsibilities
- Administer medications, therapeutic agents, treatments, disease-prevention measures, and physician-ordered care.
- Perform ongoing patient assessments, monitor changes in condition, and provide therapeutic interventions.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary treatment team to develop and implement care plans and multidisciplinary treatment efforts.
- Obtain specimens for diagnostic testing and assist physicians during patient rounds.
- Evaluate treatment effectiveness and monitor patient progress.
- Document initial assessments, interventions, patient education, weekly summaries, care plans, and other nursing activities in the medical record.
Requirements
- Current and valid Registered Nurse license issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing or a current and valid nursing license recognized by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing that authorizes practice in California.
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- At least six months of experience within the last 36 months performing nursing services similar in scope in a public or private institution; internship experience does not count.
- At least six months of experience using electronic medication administration record (eMAR) and electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Ability to observe and document patient symptoms and behavior, maintain clinical records, prepare reports, and work effectively in stressful situations while adjusting priorities based on patient needs.
