Location: Primary worksite is Ontario, Canada but must be based in US.

Pay: 30-45/hr (flexible depending on experience)

Must have Valid Passport

Contract Duration: 1-2 Months w/ Potential for extension.

Will Receive Per Diem while Travelling - All Travel Expensed

Must be open to travelling to Ontario, Canada

Role Overview

We are seeking a PLC Controls Technician to support the deployment, installation, integration, commissioning, and startup of material handling equipment (MHE) and controls systems. This role involves configuring controls hardware, deploying PLC code, performing system checkout, and troubleshooting controls issues to ensure the successful commissioning of automated conveyor and sortation systems. The work schedule is Monday through Saturday, for 40-50 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare, download, and deploy PLC code packages for site installations and production equipment.
  • Support PLC startup, commissioning, and debugging activities during installation.
  • Install, integrate, and configure controls hardware, including PLCs, I/O devices, MDR controllers, sensors, and network communication devices.
  • Assist with the installation and retrofit of material handling equipment, conveyor systems, and associated electrical infrastructure.
  • Execute commissioning activities such as device checkout, I/O verification, and functional, startup, and qualification testing.
  • Troubleshoot PLC communication failures, device configuration issues, network failures, and hardware integration problems.
  • Maintain installation and commissioning records, document configuration changes, and assist in developing turnover documentation.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with site safety and installation standards.
Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience as a Controls Technician, Automation Technician, Commissioning Technician, Field Service Technician, or a related role.
  • Experience with PLC programming software, code deployment, and troubleshooting PLC-controlled systems.
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell PLC platforms, Industrial Ethernet networks, HMI systems, SCADA systems, and field I/O devices.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, controls drawings, network diagrams, and mechanical layouts.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with material handling equipment (MHE), conveyor systems, or sortation systems.
  • Experience commissioning automated conveyor equipment and performing I/O checkout.
  • Familiarity with MDR conveyor technology and industrial automation systems.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • Experience in fulfillment centers, logistics facilities, manufacturing plants, or distribution centers.
