Job Description
Vestas Australia is seeking a Bid Engineer for their ANZ bid management team. The Bid Engineer is a precontract role, which sits within the broader Customer Project Execution (CPX) team, responsible for all construction proposal-related elements for projects during tender and contract negotiations.
Responsibilities- Work collaboratively with Bid Managers to develop costing solutions during the bidding process.
- Engage with, and coordinate inputs from key competencies such as Transport, Crane and Installation, Engineering and Procurement.
- Anticipate and describe opportunities, risks and mitigations associated with construction activities.
- Act as sparring partner to Bid Managers for operational and construction cost related topics, to ensure high customer value creation.
- Compare and analyse data with other Vestas regions around the globe, leveraging existing relationships.
- Use change management principles to release new costing tool updates to socialize impacts, create broad understanding of cost implications and ensure entire region is utilizing latest tools.
- Ensure Costing Tool is reflective of latest requirements by convening quarterly regional reviews with all required subject matter experts, coordinate and carry out Costing Tool updates and ensure synchronization to the cost model at all times.
- Ensure SharePoint is built based on meta-data structure, with detailed folder structure to ensure all users have access to the latest up-to-date templates.
- Report on regional cost trends by continuing the development of the bidding cost portfolio of offerings, and cross-check these cost levels with other regions globally. Ensure headquarters are informed at all times of latest cost trends seen locally in AU/NZ.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, engineering, construction management, business or a comparable study stream.
- 2-3 years of bid/proposal management or estimating experience, ideally within wind energy, power plants, infrastructure, or the construction industry.
- Experience delivering results in a complex organization selling large-scale projects.
- An ability to navigate across a matrix structure.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and SharePoint skills.
- Ability to find simplicity in the midst of complexity.
- Able to collaborate across cultures and foster a supportive team environment.
- Passion for large-scale projects.
- Willing to undertake occasional travel to green and brown field wind farm development sites across Australia and New Zealand.
