Job description

Bid Manager Security & Critical Infrastructure

Salary: Up to £60,000 + bonus + healthcare + enhanced pension
Location: Nottinghamshire Hybrid working

Palmer McCarthy has been retained to resource a Bid Manager for a growing security and facilities business supplying corporate and critical infrastructure clients. The business is looking to strengthen its bid and tender function, improve proposal quality and convert more tender opportunities into profitable business.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of the bid function, shape the company's bid strategy and directly influence how it identifies, develops and wins new business.

The Role

You will lead the end-to-end bid and tender process, developing high-quality proposals and working with operational, commercial and technical teams to produce compelling, commercially sound submissions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Bid Management: Taking ownership of the full bid and tender lifecycle, from opportunity identification, qualification and bid/no-bid decisions through to proposal submission and pre-award meetings.
  • Bid Writing: Producing persuasive, tailored bid and tender responses that demonstrate service quality, operational capability, commercial value and a clear understanding of client requirements.
  • Bid Strategy & Opportunity Development: Identifying relevant frameworks, procurement opportunities, retenders and new routes to market, helping shape the company's approach to winning new tenders and contracts.
  • Process & Performance: Developing bid processes, proposal templates and content libraries, while reviewing tender feedback and evaluation scores to continually improve bid quality, proposal effectiveness and conversion rates.
  • Stakeholder Management: Coordinating operational, commercial and technical colleagues to ensure bid submissions and proposals are accurate, compliant, competitive and deliverable.

About You

This opportunity would suit an experienced Bid Manager, Bid/Proposal Writer or Tender Manager, or potentially a Business Development Manager looking to specialise in bid and tender management and develop their career in this area.

You will ideally bring:

  • Experience managing bids, tenders and proposals, with strong written communication skills.
  • The ability to produce persuasive, evidence-led bid and tender submissions.
  • Strong organisational and stakeholder management skills.
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of pricing, service delivery and tender evaluation.
  • A proactive approach, with the confidence to take ownership, challenge existing processes and influence colleagues.

Experience in security, facilities management, critical infrastructure, utilities, rail or construction would be advantageous.

APMP training will be supported by the business, providing an excellent opportunity to develop your professional bid management skills and gain a recognised industry qualification.

The Opportunity

This is a genuine opportunity to take control of and develop a bid function, rather than simply manage incoming tenders. You will have the autonomy to shape bid strategy, decide which opportunities to pursue, introduce new proposal processes and influence the company's future commercial direction.

For the right individual, this is a chance to take ownership, be in control of their own destiny and make a visible contribution to business growth.

Package: Up to £60,000 basic salary, plus bonus, healthcare and enhanced pension.
