Sr. Data Engineer

A media services company in New York City is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to support the design, development, and maintenance of scalable data platforms, ETL pipelines, and cloud-based data solutions across a high-volume streaming and analytics environment.

About the Opportunity:

• Assignment Length: 6+ month opportunity


• Schedule: Monday to Friday


• Hours: Standard business


• Setting: Hybrid (at least 4 days a week onsite)

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data systems with a focus on reliability, performance, and usability


• Build and support ETL processes to ingest, process, and store large volumes of data from internal and external sources


• Collaborate with business stakeholders to define requirements, KPIs, and acceptance criteria


• Work with structured and unstructured data from relational, non-relational, and cloud-based data platforms


• Support data quality initiatives including cleansing, transformation, and feature engineering processes


• Partner with Data Science, Software Engineering, and Architecture teams to deliver real-time and batch data solutions


• Maintain CI/CD pipelines, source control processes, and automated testing standards


• Participate in architecture reviews, design discussions, and knowledge-sharing sessions


• Monitor platform performance, identify issues, and implement solutions to improve reliability and scalability


• Perform other duties, as needed

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of Data Engineering experience


• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field


• Strong experience with ETL development, data pipelines, and large-scale data processing


• Advanced SQL skills


• Experience building scalable, distributed, and highly available data systems


• Experience with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform


• Experience with source control repositories, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing


• Familiarity with Agile methodologies including Scrum and Kanban


• Strong communication and collaboration skills

Desired Skills:

• Experience with Snowflake or similar cloud data platforms


• Experience with data visualization tools and reporting solutions


• Experience working with multi-billion-record datasets


• Knowledge of enterprise digital analytics platforms


• Understanding of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices


• Experience supporting Data Science and Analytics teams


• Exposure to CDN technologies or streaming media environments


• Collaborative mindset with a strong willingness to learn new tools and technologies
