Sr. Database Engineer I (Natural/Adabas) with Security Clearance

Seeking a Sr. Database Engineer I with strong Natural/ADABAS experience to support a long-term program with American Armed Forces Mutual. This role will serve as a key technical resource responsible for the design, development, and ongoing support of enterprise database applications. This individual will act as a subject matter expert across the environment, with a heavier focus on development and engineering within Natural, including building, enhancing, and maintaining both online and batch applications.

The role includes troubleshooting complex issues, performing root cause analysis, and optimizing performance across systems. Candidates should have hands-on experience developing and supporting Natural applications (both online and batch), along with strong knowledge of ADABAS database structures, access paths, and performance tuning. Experience with JCL/SCL and job scheduling is required. Additional responsibilities include ad-hoc data analysis, reconciliation, and maintaining technical documentation such as runbooks and program specifications.

Strong communication skills are important, as this role will interface with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• 5+ years of Natural/ADABAS experience in enterprise environments
• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience)
• Strong debugging, performance tuning, and development experience
